Marching Times Issue 9

Feedback from Marchers indicated that the friendly atmosphere created by the Organisers, the seamless organisation and comfortable domestic arrangements makes this event more popular each year. Completion of the demanding routes reassured Marchers that they could have confidence in tackling the rigours of the Nijmegen event. In their Chronicle 2009, Edinburgh Academy CCF, in an account of the 2009 Nijmegen event where they won joint Best Cadet Team, said, “The senior lads warned us that we would encounter some hills today, but because the whole team had experienced the climbs at Garelochhead these ‘mounds’ went by without issue”.
26 Teams set off on Saturday morning 1 May and 26 Teams (albeit slightly reduced in numbers!) set off again on Sunday morning 2 May.
A total of 236 Marchers qualified for the Nijmegen Marches.
